Meet Nancy

Mississippi native Nancy Smith has spent more than 14 years turning unique vintage and antique finds into one-of-a-kind wearable art.

At Retrotherapy, every piece begins with something that has already lived a life — an antique French buckle, an Italian mosaic, an intricate vintage button, or another beautiful forgotten treasure. Nancy gives these pieces a new life, pairing their history with modern design to create jewelry that feels collected, personal, and completely original. THE HEART OF IT

The Inspiration

My career as a physical therapist has been about helping people restore strength and function to regain what was lost from illness or injury. My faith has taught me an even deeper meaning of restoration — that through the grace of Jesus Christ, God meets us where we are, renews us, and gives us new life and purpose.

Retrotherapy was born from that same love of renewal.

Every piece is a small celebration of restoration and grace — a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful things aren’t made from something new, but from something renewed.

Antique finds, given a new life

Antique Shoe Buckles & Buttons

In the candlelit world of centuries past, even the smallest details were meant to shine. The buckles and buttons of 1800's France through the Art Deco era transformed everyday dress into expressions of elegance, craftsmanship and status. Cut steel buckles shimmered with hand-faceted studs, while paste gems made of leaded glass captured the glow of candlelight. From shoe ornaments to buttons, these handmade treasures brought brilliance to clothing and accessories without the cost of precious gemstones. These historic treasures are redesigned into hand-sheared mink and leather cuff bracelets, buckle necklaces and bracelets on vintage chain, and cut steel button earrings paired with baroque pearls or hand cut gemstones.

Italian Micro Mosaics

Born during the Grand Tour of the 17th-19th centuries, Italian micro mosaics were treasured by travelers as miniature works of art. Each tiny piece of colored glass was hand-cut and carefully set by the artist, making every mosaic wonderfully unique. In her studio, Nancy gives these colorful mosaic florals a new life with charms, art glass beads and vintage chains, creating whimsical, one-of-a-kind jewelry filled with color, character and a touch of the unexpected.

Designer Logo Jewelry

Retrotherapy's logo jewelry is designed from enamel buttons, zipper pulls, and vintage shoe buckles made in France. The buttons are set in gold plated bezels and designed into necklaces and bracelets in both a simple and toggle design. The vintage French interlocking CC shoe buckles are combined with the antique buckles for a stunning statement necklace. Each piece tells a story of historical artistry — a reminder that the beauty has always been in the details.
